New single from ex-Revs man, Rory Gallagher

Rory and The Island play dates in Limerick and Donegal this weekend

Born Rory Gallagher, and a fabulous musician and singer in his own right, this Donegal native has made quite a contribution to the music world since co-founding indie band The Revs at the beginning of the last decade.

Rory released his first solo album, 20th Century, when he was nineteen years old. With The Revs came three further chart-making albums within five years and a number of successful singles, including one that reached the Australian Top 30.

Then Rory stopped using his birth name in 2007, the same year that The Revs closed shop.

“Lads were turning up to gigs expecting a totally different kind of show”, says Rory., who was actually named after Ireland’s most famous blues rock guitarist.

“I really liked bands like Florence And The Machine and Noah And The Whale at the time, and quite frankly like the name too –  Rory And The Island.

So Little Time is the new single by Rory And The Island.  The single follows the Abbey Road recorded Call My Name from earlier this year and is now live to stream via Spotify.

A cracking underlying dance beat, the lyricism of front man Rory, and Sean Magee’s fiddle playing makes this a foot stamping summer track.

Tickets for Rory’s next headline Dublin show are now on sale from tickets.ie.  The headline Dublin show, will take place on Friday October 25th at The Workmans Club, the same date as the release of Rory’s new solo album.

The Revs got back together to play some sold out Dublin shows in 2017 and followed this  with a further two in 2018, Rory himself started writing material for a new solo album, he moved home to Ireland during the winter, a change of scenery from Lanzarote where he and his wife made their home for ten years, and they also welcomed their second child.

With this as the back drop you would be forgiven for thinking there was no room to squeeze in anything else.

The band has had a strong run of sell out shows since December 2018 in particular, including a series of four sold out shows in the Northwest and at Dublin’s Workman’s Club, followed this spring by sold out shows in Scotland and England, including Dublin Castle in Camden, London and again two further sold out shows at The Workman’s Club in Dublin.

Dates this summer include:

Friday 26th July – Limerick, Dolans

Sat 27th July – Co Donegal, Mary From Dungloe Festival

Sunday 11th August – Enniskillen Festival, Feeder
