Here’s the latest from First Music Contact:
Primavera Pro kicks off this week in Barcelona and five acts from across Ireland will perform at the festival. The conference and showcase festival is a global meeting point for the music industry and takes place as part of the renowned Primavera Sound festival. For 5 days, the state of the music business is debated and dozens of breakthrough bands are showcased to the global music industry who gather in Barcelona. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Primavera Pro and we’re delighted to return for our second year under our Music From Ireland export initiative.
On Thursday, we’ll host the Music From Ireland showcase and we’re excited to present Kojaque, Wyvern Lingo, THUMPER, A. Smyth and LAOISE (pictured) at the festival. Taking place on the Day Pro Stage at CCCB, this is a great opportunity for Irish artists to perform for not only Spanish festival bookers and booking agents but also music industry professionals from across the world.
Music From Ireland will be on the ground in Barcelona supporting all the Irish artists and First Music Contact and Music For Ireland director, Angela Dorgan, is available to meet with any industry interested in hearing more about Ireland at Primavera Pro.
“Primavera Pro has become another important stepping stone for Irish artists who are building an international profile. We have been bringing Primavera Pro’s booker, Almudena Heredero, to IMW for a number of years and a Music From Ireland showcase seemed the next logical step for us. The lineup of acts once again demostrates the demand for Irish music by European audiences and we are excited to see what opportunities we can help them develop, with the support of Culture Ireland.” – Angela Dorgan (FMC and MFI director)
Primavera Pro is one of eleven international showcase festivals that Music From Ireland will participate in this year. Artists are funded, showcased and promoted at each event with the objective of building further international opportunities for the artists. With the support of Culture Ireland, Music From Ireland will fund all five acts to travel to Barcelona this week.
