‘Zeitgeist Jukebox’ is an immersive theatre experience framed by Little John Nee’s masterful storytelling, a soulful antidote to the disconnection of our times and a testament to the healing power of music.
His story is fascinating, Bohemian and, for some, unnerving. “I’ve been touring this island with theatre shows for over forty years,” said Little John. “However I first took to touring at least ten years before that when I played around some dancehalls in a small rock’n’roll band. I did a bit of gallivanting after that too, sleeping in vans on beaches and in forests. I love this place; I love going about it. I never have enough of the beauty of it. I intend continuing a good while longer if I’m let,” he said.
In ‘Zeitgeist Jukebox’ some folk meet up at an old warehouse in response to a notice on a lamppost. It’s an invitation to join the oddest band that ever was, in the making of the greatest album of the twenty-first century. Primitive recording equipment sits ready for use and the clock ticks…it’s now or never.
Sit back, relax and laugh during ‘Zeitgeist Jukebox’. Should the music move you, then jump up and join the band!
Little John Nee is a prolific writer and performer based in Galway. He has developed a singular style of musical storytelling theatre which he describes as ‘gentle punk’.
