The first EP from Siúcra, a sextet hailing from Galway, and with a strong Mayo input, is out at the end of next week.
Rosetta is set for release on November 29, and includes the song Woman, a track that testifies to how well this band works as a unit!
Siúcra’s musical style includes spoons of blues rock, folk and trad, all the way to shimmering shoegaze.
Vocalist Ophelia Mortimer takes centre stage, backed by Ben McGowan (vocals, guitar), Diarmuid Byrne (guitar), Rory Murphy (fiddle), Eoin O’Shaughnessy (bass) and Tiernan Bines (drums).
Capturing influences from their own individual tastes and the burgeoning revival of the Irish traditional folk scene, Siúcra have been fine tuning their own unique sound, playing relentlessly up and down the Wild Atlantic Way over the past two years.
Their first recorded number ‘Travellin’ Song was released in early 2023.
