The DiViPassion International Short Film Festival, to be held in Ballina Arts Centre on Saturday, October 12, will interest the curious and the creative in a friendly and congenial atmosphere.
It is one of 15 events taking place during this October’s Ballina Fringe Festival.
The short film festival is traditionally held in Athis Mons, Ballina’s twin town near Paris, France. Ballina Fringe Festival is welcoming the festival as part of a collaboration made possible by friendships and relationships built up over time.
Saturday’s feast of film takes place from 11am to 5pm when a programme of 33 independent short films – in English or with English subtitles – will be shown across the day.
Films are between one and fourteen minutes in length, and will include fiction, documentary and animation shorts from 11 countries, including Ireland.
20 of the films are part of a competition and winners will be announced on the day. Films were entered into the competition on an online platform from international participants, including some from Ballina and Mayo filmmakers, leading to the selection of a shortlist which will be shown on Saturday. Filmmakers will be present and there will be discussions with the audience.
This is a full-hearted collaboration between the DiViPassion organisation and the Ballina Fringe Festival, and members of DiViPassion and the Athis Mons-Ballina twin town committee in France will be travelling to Ballina for the event.
Note that there is an excellent early bird offer of 2-for-1 tickets at €12, including lunch and reception.
Persons have flexibility to drop into the film festival across the day. Lunch and a reception are included in the entry.
