First Music Contact, the national organisation which supports the popular music sector in Ireland, is reminding musicians, singers and songwriters that applications to the Basic Income For The Arts Pilot Scheme are now open.
This scheme aims to address the earnings instability that can be associated with the intermittent, periodic, and often project-based nature of work in the arts. It is open to all in the visual and performing arts sectors.
The deadline for applications to the Basic Income For The Arts scheme is next Thursday, 12th May. FMC, which is funded by the Arts Council, is encouraging any artists who are eligible to apply to do so while the application portal just below is still open.

Within her role as chair of National Campaign for the Arts, First Music Contact’s CEO Angela Dorgan has been feeding back on this pilot scheme with other artist organisations to the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
