Such a gentle folk rock song like Where The Wildbirds Sleep may well help make Vickers Vimy a household name.
It’s the new single from the band which considers Mayo its home and has been responsible for some fine music in recent years.
Tomorrow night, Thursday, April 7th, Vickers Vimy will launch Where The Wildbirds Sleep in the Velvet Room of the Travellers Friend, Castlebar, a co-headline show with Greenshine and special guests Puddletown.
Vickers Vimy comprises Eamonn Mulderrig, Ed Drea and Fintan Hanley. Ed and Fintan are the songwriters, with Ed on main vocals and acoustic guitar, and Fintan on electric and acoustic guitar. Eamonn is on drums, percussion and keyboards.
Ciaran Byrne engineered this recording and also contributed bass.
Where The Wildbirds Sleep is a song about the imprint of loss and the search for the enduring beauty of the wild birds’ song as an expression of hope and resilience.
Crafted by Ed and Fintan during last summer, the trio then arranged, engineered, recorded and produced the single themselves in Eamonn’s home studio in Mayo, after Covid restrictions were eased in December 2021.
In the past, Vickers Vimy have supported John Martyn, The Hothouse Flowers, The 4 Of Us, Maria Doyle Kennedy and Mundy, and have shared the RTÉ Music Train with Christy Moore, Paul Brady, Kodaline, and Jack L.
