Sisters healing project reaches out to all

Dublin sisters and multi-instrumentalists Méabh and Mella Carron formed their band Carron as a healing project during a period of extensive hospital treatment.

In the Covid-19 lockdown, the girls reached out to other creatives, including producers and videographers and collaborated their raw acoustic material to create a totally reinvigorated sound for summer 2020.

Out of this endeavour comes She’s Fire (Richey McCourt remix), the first of Carron’s five-track remix record, the video for which is out now.

The music video, created by Ray Keogh, gives the viewer an insight into the journey of Carron, from the very first clip of them performing a cover of Beyoncé in their parent’s living room to performances at Ruby Sessions, Whelans and more.

They released their No. 1 charting EP Roots to very favourable reviews (Pure M, TLMT, Hot Press). Follow-up singles includedPrison Robes, Battle Lines, Even Sad Birds Sing and Numb, which received extensive Irish airplay across 2FM, 98FM, 2XM, Dublin City FM, KCLR, Northern Sound and more.

Starting out, Carron were pinned by Jim Carroll of The Irish Times as ‘ones to watch’ and have since performed sold-out shows at music venues all over Ireland including Whelans, The Grand Social, Monroes, Dolans and The Sugar Club.

Their most significant festival appearance was performing the Salty Dog stage at Electric Picnic 2019.

Their new single She’s Fire is a reworking of track 3 on their EP Roots, and was remixed by Richie McCourt. The song describes a pivotal point in the sisters’ adolescent lives.

In their music and songwriting, which they create along with best friend and guitarist Darragh McGrath, they aim to create a sense of one united female voice that is amplified by the strength of their sibling bond. Impeccable harmonies through shared blood and a subtle nod toward their Irish heritage and backgrounds in musical theatre give the girls a contemporary and powerful sound.
