Tipperary musical comedians The 2 Johnnies are hoping to nab their 8th No.1 Irish single in a row with their latest single, the hilariously titled, She Only Rings Me When She’s Locked.
Die-hard fans will already be familiar with the song seeing as it’s been a staple of the duo’s live shows over the past year, being aired at everything from Electric Picnic and Cork Opera House to far flung venues in LA and Australia throughout the groups highly successful 2 Johnnies Podcast World Tour.
Johnny B had this to say on the new single: “As many fans already know, this is a song we wrote for our good friend Choc Ice, who had, let’s say, a certain way with the ladies. It’s based on one of his more long-lasting flings, but we think it also sums up a lot of commitment-shy relationships people can go through today”.
Johnny smacks added: “We’re releasing it for Valentine’s Day as an honest, real-world reflection on the whole superficial side of relationships associated with February 14th. Things aren’t always as simple as chocolates and flowers!”.
She Only Rings Me When She’s Locked is released Tuesday 11th on iTunes, Spotify and all good streaming sites. In fact, the rendition featured on the single was the very first performance of the song, recorded live at Whelans’ of Wexford Street, Dublin.
