Another project from the Schoolyard Champions’ stable has yielded a thought-provoking new song that features singer Lauren Murphy.
Mayo musicians Kial Wallace (bass and guitar) and Cathal Faughnan (piano, guitar and ukulele) set out on a task at the end of last year to write and record a new song every month for 12 months, each featuring a guest singer.
The December 2019 single Christmas Isn’t Christmas Without You – sung by Mayo’s Niamh Langan – was their first offering.
Now comes Look, written by Cathal Faughnan, and featuring this award-winning singer songwriter from Monaghan.
Have a listen to the song here:
Having performed around Ireland and internationally from a very young age, Lauren enjoys singing in a broad range of musical styles including classical, jazz and hard rock/metal.
She enjoys participating in musical theatre and has fronted many bands including Between Horizons who shot to the top of the Irish metal charts with their self titled debut release.
Lauren currently fronts Dundalk based funk/rock group Accidents In The Workplace who are quickly making a name for themselves on the music scene.
Cathal, who is from Knockmore, and Kial, from Ballyhaunis, describe themselves as a pop duo, based in counties Mayo and Dublin. The two are influenced by artists such as Coldplay, Adele and The XX, but their project band has yet to perform publicly as Schoolyard Champions, though each have gigged with other separately in the past.
