Mayo pop duo Schoolyard Champions may not score highly when it comes to experience on the live circuit, but are impressive in so many other ways.
Cathal Faughnan and Kial Wallace are talented young musicians who release their debut single this Saturday.
Christmas spirits of one sort or other inspired Cathal to write Christmas Isn’t Christmas Without You last Stephen’s Day.
Singers take note!
Christmas Isn’t Christmas Without You gives the guys the opportunity to try out something new. They’ve brought in guest singer and fellow Mayo musician Niamh Langan to perform vocals and plan to use this project model for their future writings.
They’ve one original release a month scheduled for most of 2020 and are on the lookout for other singers to take on their vox lines, always to be supplemented by the lads’ enormous instrumental skills of course.
Kial plays bass and guitar while Cathal takes on piano, guitar and ukulele.
Both have played with other bands and set up Schoolyard Champions last year. Key influences on their pop sound are Adele, Damien Rice and John Mayer.
Christmas Isn’t Christmas Without You, which has a solid piano and strings texture, will be available on iTunes and other digital music shops from 7th December.
