While plans for Other Voices Ballina continue, the 19th edition of Other Voices in Dingle, a magical three-day festival of music, song and story in the pubs, hubs, cafés and beautiful St James’ Church, came to a close today.
Friday night in St James’ Church featured an incredible line up including JOY CROOKES, YE VAGABONDS, THE MURDER CAPITAL (pictured) and JAFARIS. Saturday night’s line up was equally as impressive, with spellbinding performances from WHITNEY, SOAK, ARLO PARKS, ANGIE MCMAHON and EDITORS. Those lucky enough to secure tickets for St James’ Church enjoyed these intimate performances, while music fans witness all the happenings in St. James’ by live-streaming from the church to venues throughout Dingle.
BANTER took over Foxy John’s for a weekend of fireside conversations and music. We were joined by Andrea Horan, Sinead O’Carroll, Saoirse McHugh, Caelainn Hogan, Dr Jennifer Cassidy, Susan McKay, Sara Canning and Conor O’Mahony for thought-provoking chats, debates and insights.
The RTÉ 2FM RISING STAGE took place in Nellie Fred’s on Friday 29th November and showcased three very special acts Somebody’s Child, Vulpynes and Fehdah.
The Dingle Gin Music Trail played host to a dynamic series of gigs at venues across the town throughout the whole weekend. Trail goes were treated to some memorable performances from the likes of Soda Blonde, Gypsies on the Autobahn, Cherym, Gemma Bradley, Fehdah, Crash Ensemble, Clare Sands and many many more!
Paul Geaney’s Yard was the location for this year’s IMRO OTHER ROOM, an open gig to all Music Trail Wristband Holders. Paul Geaney’s Yard was open across the whole weekend with thirst-quenching refreshments courtesy of Dingle Gin and O’Hara’s Brewery. Fans enjoyed performances from Anna Mieke, A. Smyth, Kerry singer Junior Brother and noise-pop sextet from Dublin, Thumper – and our fantastic IMRO Open Call Artist – Waterford hip-hop artist Alex Gough.
A new addition to this year’s festival OUR COASTS, OUR VOICES took place in the Dingle Courthouse on Saturday 30th November with a host of workshops, games and discussions. One workshop featured Rusangango Family rapper God Knows alongside fellow Limerick-based rapper, singer and poet Denise Chaila. Also featured were Ri Galway, Martha Farrell, John Breen, Denise Vickers, and Manchan Magan.
Another brand new aspect to Other Voices Dingle was Cogar (Whisper) an art trail as Gaeilge curated by artist Aine Ni Chiobhain with workshops, new artworks, music, poetry, a laser light show by Colin Clarke and lots more.
A gang of delighted festival-goers hopped on the bus today to take part in the incredibly popular Music Trail West. They set off from Dingle this morning and headed off on a mystery musical tour out around the peninsula to see some amazing acts performing live in some stunning locations!
